This post is a little more sentimental than others, since this was my big sisters special wedding in Leeds last September! Francesca is the glamorous sister and so it felt important from the get-go to ensure her style was reflected in the designs we created for both her and Tim. She was very clear throughout on having pure white roses and we met in the middle by designing a complementary palette which softened the effect of anything looking too stark and monochromic.
We did this by introducing off whites, very pale blush, coffee and brown tones, as well as some deep maroon. As well as plenty of variety and texture breaking everything up to feel more relaxed.
It was a new experience to be so involved in the ‘getting ready’ part of the day, which made setting up at the venue more hectic than usual with my timings being much tighter. I dashed off before the install was complete but as ever my incredible events assistant Rachel had everything poised in position for when we returned that afternoon after the ceremony.
Francesca and Tim hired a mega team of wedding suppliers, some which it’d worked with before and others which were new to me. Together we brought their visions to fruition for a truly memorable day, particularly Lottie Haigh who was Francesca’s incredible hairstylist and made us all feel relaxed throughout the morning.
The previous year I had the great honour of helping my brother-in-law Tim source Francesca’s antique Emerald engagement ring.
We made sure there was plenty of natural candle-light to add romance and glamour to the central city location, Shears Yard. Reflecting the tones of the flowers through-out the glass vase vessels and candlestick holders and tying deep brown velvet bows for each place setting.
A selection of designs were brought on site, including a variety of large central footed ceramic bowl arrangements, combined with more delicate bud vase arrangements. We also created meadows for the entrance and to frame the table ends. There was also some larger designs in large stoneware pots to highlight the table plan signage and other areas.
Tables laid for the wedding breakfast with full dining and glassware provided by Shears Yard for the 8 course tasting menu for 60 guests. The staff at Shears Yard were brilliant throughout, making sure everyones needs were met whilst serving some delicious plates.
Francesca’s first look was so special - a moment I don’t usually experience in real time.
The photographer on the day was Sophie Hewitt, who it’d previously worked with and had recommended to Francesca and Tim. Sophie was attentive all day, never missing an opportunity in-front of the lens, capturing the day as beautifully as it was to remember.
Francesca and Tim chose Leeds Town Hall for their ceremony and stayed at Dakota hotel throughout their wedding weekend.
There is so so much more I could share about their day but I just wanted to share some highlights and what a meaningful day this was for all the family and our much loved friends.
A big thank you to all of the suppliers!
