Flowers have well and truly captivated my life, changed my career and each day bring me purpose and joy. Whether that’s growing for weddings, our local markets, the home or simply to admire in the garden, the alchemy of growing your own cut flowers is one that should be shared and enjoyed.

If you’ve been following along with our journey over the past several years, from experimental growing in a small back yard in Haworth, to establishing a full plot and community project, leading to more recent developments here at Honour Farm, our biggest project yet - you’ll know there’s been a lot of troubleshooting, learning, successes and failures had along the way.

But consistently, i’ve always had ‘the knack’ for growing! Call this luck if you wish, but it’s certainly more like research, intuition, hard sodding (and soggy) work and plenty of practical experience that has brought me my biggest growing successes. Knowledge I now feel ready to pass on to guide budding growers, starting out on their plot, garden or field, who are as equally passionate about flowers and taking care of the environment as we are!

Gardening and working the land can be a hard task, but also the most rewarding and frankly there’s no easy shortcut to getting the best results. However, armed with some well rounded insight, tips and guidance our Seed Tend Flora workshop will set you on the path to becoming a seasonally abundant hobby cut flower grower and who knows, it may set your sights to a career market growing or supporting your own floristry business through the production of your own cut flowers (with much gratitude from the planet).

This is our first EVER workshop, carefully constructed and designed to deliver insight on the following:

  • Seed sowing and the growing calendar

  • Curating flowers for beauty and function

  • Essential Annuals and Perennials for the cut garden

  • Setting up your cut flower garden - Logistics / Materials / Equipment

  • Understanding regenerative gardening methods

  • The importance of biodiversity and soil health

The workshop will run from 10 - 4pm on Saturday, 31st August 2024, at Laycock Village Hall (BD22 0PH) with a tour of our modest walled garden in it’s high season state as we continue to regenerate (and of course to meet the ducks).

You will also receive some complimentary seeds to take away and trial, along with a growing schedule.

A fresh seasonal lunch, cooked with locally grown and sourced produce will be provided, giving us the opportunity to sit together, chat, build new friendships and peer support as you embark on your bountiful growing journey.

(There will also be an opportunity to pick up conversations again at the end of the day at our local pub for anyone interested).

Please notify us of any dietary requirements or additional needs you may have so we can accommodate.

Tickets are non-refundable, if you have any further questions email hello@honourfarmflowers.co.uk
